Unexpected Guest Distillery, the official Gin of Sydney Film Festival, is turning cinema into an urban adventure with the launch of the Unexpected Scavenger Hunt, a free, CBD experience from the 4th – 15th June.

Festivalgoers will explore five locations, scan QR codes, get tested on film trivia, and compete for $1,500 worth of prizes and one grand reward: gin for a year.

The self-guided hunt begins at any five Festival-aligned checkpoints. Each scan unlocks a film challenge or film trivia, with which participants will have to solve to unlock the next location.

“There’s exciting giveaways every day, so anyone that scans has the chance to be rewarded regardless of finishing all checkpoints” said Jane Owen, Co-Founder and Master Distiller at Unexpected Guest Distillery.

“Beyond the daily cinema passes, gin experiences, merch and products, those who complete all five locations unlock entry to win 24 bottles of gin, delivered over the course of a year”.

“Sydney Film Festival is delighted to partner with Unexpected Guest and is inspired by their creativity in expanding the Festival experience. Unexpected Guest is building the Festival experience beyond the screen to encourage cinephiles to participate in all facets of the Festival” said Frances Wallace, CEO at Sydney Film Festival.

Come join us at the thriving Festival Hub at Lower Town Hall to kick off your scavenger hunt and experience the magic of film beyond the screen.
